Hi Everyone,
Allan (Alonso in Italy) and I are getting ready for our fall adventure in Italy.
 |
| We will be staying in Venice, Verona, Bologna, Perugia and Florence. |
We head to Venice on Thursday October 1, arriving on Friday October 2 (we switch planes in Paris). We were last in Venice in 2012 and will be spending four nights there. The municipality of Venice has a population of 249,000 but only about 50,000 live in the historic island city. We are looking forward to attending the Venice Biennale for the first time. The theme of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia is In Minor Keys.

We then head by train to Verona on October 6. The City of Verona has a population of 255,139 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its beautifully preserved Roman architecture. Shakespeare set three of his plays in Verona: Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. This will be our first time in Verona.

On October 11, we will take the train to Bologna, one of our favourite Italian cities which we visited in 2022. It is our intention to take day trips to Parma, Ravenna and Modena, which we have not visited before.
 |
| Perugia |
We are also planning a number of day trips from Perugia including Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis and a UNESCO World Heritage hilltop town.

Our final stop in Florence (city population of 362,000). We arrive by train on October 26. We have not been to Florence since 2012.

We return to Toronto (via Amsterdam) on October 30.
Please check our blog from time to time to follow our adventure. I'll most likely do the first post from Venice on Saturday October 3 or Sunday October 4 as we don't get into town until early evening on October 2.
I look forward to hearing about your adventure. Enjoy, enjoy as you head into your 75th birthday year. Cheers. Ceta
